Returned home yesterday from a comically bad couple of days in Hamburg. For starters, I very nearly passed out for no apparent reason on the flight, and had to go and sit down at the front with the cabin crew until I stopped shaking and my vision stopped being blurry. It was a 6am flight but I had actually eaten a proper breakfast and have no idea where the random fainting came from. I think the attendant thought I was scared of flying. Kind of embarrassing!

Then there was a big crash on the motorway while I was on the bus from Lubeck airport to Hamburg and I sat for 2 hours in the non-moving traffic, complete with pre-requisite badly behaved screaming children with parents who did nothing to control them.

It was while sitting bored on the bus I realised I had left my plastic bag of liquid items at security at Stansted, including some rather expensive makeup that was practically brand new. So, in a rather poor mood, I had to skip stopping at my hotel for a shower and go straight to the shoot about 1 hour late, minus deodorant which was also in the lost bag. Schmexy.

Then for reasons that I can't figure out, I missed the bus back to the airport 2 days later. For those who don't know, Lubeck is a strange little airport that I like to call a 'special' Ryanair airport, it's a glorified shed 1 hour away from Hamburg with flights going back and forth from London Stansted. The only way to get there is by the shuttle bus, and there is only one bus for each flight. So, I had to pay 100 euros for a taxi. 100 euros! *cries*. I so can't afford that. Thankfully the taxi took cards. It should have been more but I think the driver felt sorry for me.

Of course, it wasn't all bad. The shooting for HighGlossDolls itself went really well, I got to wear lovely new latex along with my birthday present gorgeous shoes (and also a couple of pairs of Gucci shoes which were rather hot). The first day was mostly latex hoods and the second day there was a hair/makeup person and we shot some shiny dresses and lingerie. We went out for sushi both days after the shoot, and it was very good.

I think there are some small cropped previews on the latex SALE page of the website already which look nice and shiny :) (edit: oops, they must have all sold already so you can't see 'em anymore!

I need to actually leave the house and go buy replacement makeup for a shoot tomorrow now. doh. I feel my saving money for Uni is now fail!

Yeesh, condolences. I was under the impression you were brought in by your photographers. Still profit is profit, and making a loss like that sucks the big one.

Shaking and vision loss? You still work 7 days a week? Sounds like simple exhaustion, but even so watch that. I've collapsed in a city centre ( different reason ) and it's fecking awful. And I eat well as well.

i was given money to cover travel expenses, but it didnt include 100 euros for a taxi, the bus is only 8 euros. lol.

Heh. As you do ;)

I don't want to push it on the 7 day work thingy but your body needs food, fluids, and an opportunity to de-stress. If your body doesn't get the 'down time' then, well, think of it as a paperclip. If you unwind it into the wire it looks fine. Odds are it is fine. But if you keep wiggling it at a molecular level stress will start to build up. Cracks will then develop, and that wire will eventually snap. And then you need a new paperclip.

The human body works the same way. It can de-stress itself naturally as long as it's given a chance. But if it doesn't get the downtime those cracks will appear. And needless to say getting a new human body is a lot harder than getting a new paperclip.

Sometimes the profit is outweighed by other costs. I can't tell you what to do obviously, but I'm just saying be careful. I see burnout types a lot on the wards where I work ( proper asylum ), and it's just not worth it. It's how you get Fybro as well, and I assure you that one sucks ;)

um...random faintyness....I can think of at least one condition that could cause that.

You might want to see a doctor to get tests done to see if certain monthly occurances are going to stop happening for a while

There are about a squillion things that can cause fainting.... why do people always go the dramatic route and assume that?!

Grr

Chris- hope you've recovered- sounds like a nightmare!

Also- I really wanna shoot you :)

Ugh! I missed the shuttle from Ryk. in iceland once due to sorting a baggage issue. It ended being a 100 euro ride for me as well. I was pissed but sometimes bad things touch you. You'd thing Airport would be more open about the transport realities on the website info and such.

I think its a sneaky Ryanair thing to get more money out of people!

If they are the only ones to use the airport I would agree.

Oh man, I know how it feels to nearly pass out.... having low blood sugar, if you ignore the signs or eat the wrong stuff, you crash harder and your legs have a tendency to quit right under you.

As for flying, the last plane I was in had to make an emergency landing in Tennessee because a part of the hydraulic system failed. We had to fly BACK to Atlanta, and then catch a new flight flying directly to Michigan the next morning...... but there was a complimentary dinner voucher or something that they gave us.

As for losing make-up, I know that feeling too..... back in February of last year, I had a shoot about a half hour away from where I currently live and I thought I had everything with me. I get home and my large make-up bag is missing, along with it was about 100 dollars worth of make-up. Foundation, face powder, eyeshadows and eyeliners...... it sucked. And I checked all of the places I had been to that day, no one saw anything. D:

Christ what a nightmare - especially being in a foreign country too.

You may have been a bit dehydrated.

I can't wait to see the photos from Fraulein. I love her work, both latex and photography.

As for forgetting stuff in transportation... I was drooling on a pair of very expensive boots for month. I saved my money and went to buy them. All bouncy I take the bus. I was with my husband, we got off in the center to have coffee. And I forgot my brand new boots in the bus!! So I started panicking, I could see the bus going away. I tried to run and catch it in traffic but it left. So, in the end, i took the bus after and went to the central station. A very nice lady had taken my bag to the driver and my shoes were waiting for me there. The driver had looked at the content of the bag and had seen the price of the stuff. He was like, damn, you must be really loaded, or really weird. lol

my BF said it could have been equalisation of airpressure on the plane, as thats been known to have that effect.
gods that Hamburg trip was not good....can you not go and pick the stuff up at Stansted?

Bull. What they mean is they've already brought the stuff home and given 'em to the missus. Thanks for the expensive tip.

Anyway, life has a way of hammering you in sequence, sometimes. Hope you've recovered from it now and move on to other pretty things.

PS. air pressure and lack of oxygen in planes (they recycle the cabin air) can make a person faint. Happened to me a couple of times, maybe three even (probably stemming from gastric problems - stomach gases not reacting well to the pressure changes and all that) - anyway, nothing that a trip to the front and some oxygen couldn't fix, eventually. lol.

Yikes, what a time you had. Take care of yourself, lady!

I fainted on a plane once myself. Ya, extreme embarrassment. Woke up to all these faces peering down at me and here's the best part - my ears were clogged, so they put hot wet washcloths in plastic cups and I had to hold them over my ears for the whole flight. Can't remember if it helped, but I'm sure I looked AWESOME.

What a trip. I bet you're glad to be home after a Euromare like that. Almost as good as when I went to Barcelona without any cash and Abbey stopped my card because 'someone was trying to use it in Spain'. "Yes", I said, "it's me. I'm here now." Then they put me on hold 'til my mobile ran out of credit, and I couldn't top it up because they'd stopped my card, and they couldn't call me back because my phone needed credit to receive calls abroad...etc.

Anyway! Two things; look who's famous in Bath: http://www.snapsandbytes.co.uk/famous-in-bath.jpg and will I be seeing you at the Ball or Skin Two LAM Special next month? :)
